If you give a Zack an apron . . .

Little Zack is a chef at heart. When i asked the boys what they wanted for dinner the other night Zack cheerfully shouted out "Chicken! Rice! Broccoli!" I agreed and went into the kitchen to begin preparing dinner. Barely a moment later Zack came running into the kitchen declaring "No, I go make dinner!" And it was decidedly so. We pulled out "Zackary's Apron" and The BIG Chair and got him all set up next to the stove. I measured and Zack added everything to the pan and stirred it all up. He was very excited to see his creation coming together. But if you let a Zack make dinner he's going to want to . . . Set the table to make it "nice!" So out came the chargers, plates, napkins, forks and knives. I showed him how to set one setting and he did the other two. He was very careful to make sure everything was lined up straight and put in the right spot. And after you let a Zack set a table he's going to want to . . .
Light some candles! He needed a little help with this task. His finger got really hot so he thought i should lite the rest. I must admit i was relieved to be able to help him with this. When he was finished we moved everything on the table into place when it was discovered that when a Zack looks at his table he's going to want to . . .

Make Hot Chocolate to go with dinner; in Coca Cola glasses, of course! Wow!!! Those turned out to be some Really chocolaty hot chocolates. He even added some swizzle sticks so we could stir our beverages. What a sweetheart. I, of course, thought we were done now. But when a Zack puts hot chocolate on the table he's going to realize that he forgot . . . Cheese! You have to have cheese to put on top of your broccoli. Apparently, without cheese, broccoli doesn't taste good. And finally, everything looked to be complete and dinner was served. Zack did a great job preparing dinner for me and Cody. Everything tasted delicious and the table was beautiful. We had so much fun that Cody decided he gets to make dinner tonight so we can make a story for him also.I must admit that when a 3-year-old gets to make dinner he's much more excited to eat it. This is definitely something we will be doing again in the very near future. Thank you, Zackary!

That is so awesome! Jackson loves to help me cook, too, especially when it's cookies or brownies. I think it's a great way for them to learn, too (because of the measuring and such). Great job Zack!
