Cody is turning 11
in two months. I realize that I should probably be more focused on Christmas coming; or the celebration of Josh, Maddox (who's turning 2) and Zackary's (who's turning 5) birthday's in the coming weeks. But this birthday is different from the rest. My oldest is turning 11 and he still shares a room with his 2 younger brothers.

He never complains about having to share a room or having to help clean up the messes his brothers made in their room. He is super helpful in many aspects around our home and with our family. And even on his worst day, you can still see him smiling and trying his hardest to be the best he can be.

He has reached that age where he no longer desires toys. He'll get lost for days in a book, or writing his own secret language. He gets his schoolwork done with little complaint, even though his brothers are playing around him while he works.

This is why I have had my eye on him more lately. Josh and I have talked and we want to do something really special for him for his birthday. We want to do something for him that will let him know how much we appreciate and love him, and that we do recognize that as he grows his needs change also.

We love seeing the light in his eyes and hearing the excitement in his voice, and it has become our goal to bring that to him in exponential amounts for his 11th birthday. So for this amazing child of ours (okay, they are ALL amazing!), we are making plans for him to have his OWN ROOM as a surprise birthday present!

His little brothers will get the play room as their room, and Cody will get the sleep room as his own room. Now we are trying to save up for a new bed for Cody. If we can do that, we can make his room happen. We can texture and paint the walls at a later time but that wouldn't really matter to him.

Cody would have his own space. Privacy. A place to finally call his own.

I'm so excited! Can you imagine? We think he'll be so happy . . . he just might cry.
